Performance Center is an individual academic project located along the Kadıköy and Moda coastline in Istanbul. The project reimagines an inefficient parking area as a pedestrian-oriented cultural landscape, replacing hard urban surfaces with afforestation, public paths, seating elements, and a performance arts center.

The design began with the mapping of pedestrian flows across the waterfront. These movement patterns informed both the orientation of the building and its organic architectural form. Rather than treating the building as an isolated object, the project uses architecture as a tool to organize density, guide circulation, and create new social thresholds along the coast.

The roof is shaped through dynamic curves that respond to the fluid movement of the site. Strategic openings allow daylight to enter the central spaces, while the wide eaves create shaded and comfortable walking areas for pedestrians. Around the building, raised plates transform circulation into places for gathering, resting, and social interaction.

The program combines performance, exhibition, rehearsal, and public functions. The auditorium and theater foyers are oriented toward the Moda shoreline, while a stage positioned beneath the ramp allows the landscape and open orchestra area to become part of the performance setting. Exhibition areas, lobby, and café functions activate the ground floor, while exercise halls are placed above with views toward the city.

The project proposes a more connected and pedestrian-friendly waterfront, where landscape, culture, movement, and public life come together as one continuous coastal experience.
