ICA Central Exhibition explores the intersection of biotechnology, architecture, and environmental design through algae-based photobioreactor systems. Developed as part of Bioarch Studio’s research practice, the project investigates how living organisms and recyclable materials can be translated into architectural systems for air purification, biofuel production, biodegradable materials, and urban sustainability.

My role focused on shaping the architectural direction of the project. I contributed to the integration of biomimicry, bioarchitecture, adaptive environments, and sustainable material systems, translating scientific and environmental ideas into spatial and visual frameworks.

Using Grasshopper, I developed computational studies inspired by abstracted natural forms. These studies supported the design of modular, scalable bio-design systems, while architectural drawings, plans, sections, elevations, and 3D representations helped communicate the project as both a research process and an exhibition narrative.

At the core of the project is the photobioreactor: a living system designed to support the growth of photosynthetic organisms such as algae. From small life capsules to larger architectural applications, these systems imagine how buildings could purify air, produce biomass, support biodiversity, and become more active participants in ecological processes.

The project positions architecture not only as a built form, but as a living interface between technology, biology, and the environment.
